they have only little in common
yet day and night became close friends
touching base without exception
each day twice they're shaking hands

the day is pretty straightforward
what you see is what you get
the night time is a different story
as other rules apply post sunset

darkness is defined by absence
the lack of energy and illumination
devoid of and light and hope
for the sun left the equation

night and day need each other
yet coalesce in contrast stark
you will surely value the light stronger
once you know the taste of dark
